"Forum Linking Secrets for Internet Success"

Online forums are potentially a great help or can be just a waste of time.

You can either spend hours and hours a week at forums reading all the interesting discussions between people. Or you can use them own purposes. If this sounds like what you'd like to do, remember to keep an eye on the clock and not spend too much time on this.

FORUM LINKING -- HOW TO LINK FROM THE FORUM TO YOUR WEBSITE

There are loads of online forums. Go to Google.com and type in your topic plus the word forum, for example "acne forum" or "home schooling forum" (without the quotes) and you will find the available forums.

To get links back to your website or websites, choose the busy forums. These are the ones that get the most visitors and have the most active discussions. They will usually be listed near the top of the search results.

Pick several and take a look. Like what you see? Great. Take particular note of the forum signatures that other folks have written. Could you model on that? Some forums seem to prefer one liners. Others allow more text in your "sig".

Once you're happy with the forum, register as a member. When picking your username, keep in mind that it will appear on everything you write so choose something that reflects appropriately.

To post, you can either go to the topics of particular relevance to you or you could take a different approach and just respond to some of the posts that have had no response yet. These are often available through a link after you login.

Similarly by commenting on popular questions, your comments will get seen.

Avoid mud slinging and harsh criticism (called flaming).

Tip: Make your posts helpful instead of sales pitches. Anything that looks like a self-serving self-promotion might get deleted, no matter how cleverly you it.

By contributing useful comments or expressing your thanks in a contextually relevant way (not just 'Good point, thanks'), your forum post and your URL-embedded signature can gain visibility. And traffic back to your site!
