The most widely used of all logo types, the Text Logo natually focuses on text and typeface. A Text Logo may be best suited for companies whose name effectively describes what they do (Office Depot, Staples) Without graphical elements to convey that message, a literal interpretation of the words is often necessary.

A Text Logo is often text only with unique typographic treatments (Microsoft, Sears, Yahoo). The representation of the word essentially becomes a symbol of the company.

Graphical Logo (or Iconic Logo)

Graphical logos generally combine a symbol with a Text Logo. The combination can be loose or integral. With a loose combination, the elements can be used together or separately.
