Marketing with QR Codes
You've probably seen that little square bar code thing in the newspaper, on print ads and websites. It's a QR code which means Quick Response.
They are used to take a piece of information from media and put it in to your cell phone.
Once your QR code is on a prospective buyers cell phone, it may give details about your business, show a URL which can be clicked to see a trailer for a movie (just an example), or it may give a coupon which can be used in a local outlet.
QR codes are more useful than a standard barcode because they can store (and digitally present) much more data, including URL links, geo coordinates, images, and/or text. Most smartphones or late model cell phones with cameras can scan them!
QR codes have been spread to be used on billboard ads, in-store displays, event ticketing and tracking, T-shirts, car signs, business cards, print ads, contests, direct mail campaigns, websites, email marketing, coupons… just to name a few.
Another great feature is that QR codes are giving small businesses the ability to measure response rates with accurate precision allowing them to assess their ROI and aid in their marketing budgets.
