The Web Design Process
1. Design consultation
We start the process with either a phone consultation or meeting and have you fill out our questionnaire. This form gathers information about your company, services, audience, purpose, site goals and more. We use this information to help us deliver an accurate quote and understand your design needs.
2. Proposals and Estimates
After reviewing your questionnaire we will send you a formal, detailed proposal as well as a contract. In order to schedule your project we require a 50% retainer and a signed contract and proposal.
Proposals are formulated by considering all the work involved as well as the complexity of that work.
The complexity of your project is directly related to the time it will take for us to formulate an estimate, so please take into consideration that this may take us two or three days. Every project is different and different projects may take longer to analyze for an estimate.
Once an estimate is delivered, all addditional work, redesign on any level and "after thoughts" are considered additional work and will be billed accordingly.
Estimates are valid for 30 days.
3. Collecting Your Materials
In order to start the design process we need your all of your materials such as:
- Table of Contents (TOC) with a list of all pages, page names, sub pages and names, sections etc.
- Text
- Brochures
- Product descriptions
- Pictures
- product weight & cost
4. Now it’s time to start designing!
We’re in agreement; all paperwork is signed and faxed to us we at least have your TOC. Now we start the actual design process.
5. Design Mockups and Sample Layouts
Now we create your design "mockup" and upload it to our testing server for your review. This is the time we need your input on the design, not he content. You will have up to 3 design revisions if needed. We’ll upload new mockups with changes for your approval. Once you’re happy with the look we will have you sign an approval form. After that, any design changes will be at an additional charge.
6. Building out the Site
Once you’ve approved the design, then we will code a “template” and create a comprehensive navigation or menu system based on the TOC you supplied us. We use standards compliant code whenever possible, and do cross-browser testing to make certain that your site works properly in various browsers. This is also when we:
- Work on the search engine optimization aspects of the site
- If we are installing a content management software, such as Joomla, or a web store software such as Zen Cart or Cube Cart, this is when we do that
- Programming such as Forms, Flash, CGI, Java are now added to your site.
Meanwhile, you have been working to finalize your content and we will need a digital file containing any text, additional photos, etc. Once the first draft of the site is complete we will notify you so you can review it and submit any feedback.
7. Web Site Completion and Testing
Bracewell Web Works will test your site on different browsers, computers and connections. You will also review the site and test it to ensure it is functioning properly.
8. Site goes "Live"
Your site is published for the world to see! You can now start advertising your site, telling friends, business acquaintances and publish print material.
9. Search Engine Submission
We will you how to submit your site to search engines, a VERY easy process, or we do it for you if it was part of your proposal.
10. Maintenance
If you have signed on with a maintenance and support plan then it kicks into place now. If we have built a site for you with a CMS so you can maintain the content we will provide training (if that is part of our proposal). If your site does have a CMS installed, remember, it is software and will require periodic updates.

3. Do you charge for an initial consultation? We are happy to discuss your project by phone for 30 minutes at no charge. Then, if we are on the same page we will need you to fill out our questionnaire that you'll find on our website.
After we receive your filled out questionnaire we'll contact you to discuss it and your project in detail and provide a proposal to you at no charge.
4. How much will my web site cost?
Costs are determined by how long it will take to complete the project and the complexity of the project. It similar to hiring a contractor to build your house. How big will it be? What upgrades will you want? You get the idea.

11. What are some things I need to know in working with Bracewell Web Works?
Here are some great tips that will help you save us time and you money:
- Be clear on what your goals are. Let us know what you want from your web site and have a good project plan in place. If we have to "plan your project" for you we will bill for our time.
- Decide on content. Decide what content you want to present on your web site. We will be in charge of designing the how and where – the formatting and layout.
- Deliver content to us in an organized and timely manner. Text should be finalized, proofread and ready for publication. Graphics should be named carefully and sent in an orderly way. Photos should be named appropriately.
- Offer clear, helpful feedback to design drafts. If you delay in responding to our requests for feedback your project will loose its place in our queue and we will reschedule it as soon as possible.

"Michelle Bracewell, owner of Bracewell Webworks, has provided far more than a web hosting/development service to the Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce. When we approached her about building a Web site for our small business community, www.springssmallbiz.com, Michelle embraced the challenge both professionally and personally. The quality of the site was a given...and it is superb. The "ownership" she displayed with the team developing this site was both refreshing and value added, and...it did not stop with bringing the site on-line.
Michelle remains a highly valued member of the oversight team charged to insure we are bringing the best possible product to market. We could not have asked for more!
Thanks for all you do!"

"O&D Manufacturing is very pleased with the website from Bracewell Web Works!
It is refreshing to work with a professional web development company. With so many web designers offering sub-par customer service, over-promising and under-performing, we appreciate the level of attention you gave to all of our questions. What I liked the most was the fact that everything was documented so well, and you delivered according to your published time schedule. In fact, you were ahead of schedule on several of the project benchmarks.
Thank you for your wonderful design suggestions, and making our new website so much better than our old one. We’re already quoting new business from people who are now finding us on the web; which was our #1 goal all along!"
- Mike Browning, Sales Manager O & D Manufacturing
